Expectations

What To Expect at Your Chiropractic Visits

First Visit - Examination: A first office visit consists of the patient meeting the doctor and the office staff. The patient is then asked to fill in a confidential patient history form that is detailed and thorough, to help the doctor have the information necessary to provide the best possible care. Then the doctor will go over with the patient the reasons why he/she sought care at the office and ask other pertinent questions to best serve the patient's needs.

After a thorough examination, your diagnosis and treatment plan will be discussed. Chiropractic care is not limited to spinal manipulation, though spinal manipulation is the distinctive treatment for which chiropractic is most known. Physical therapies that may be incorporated into your treatment include electric muscle stimulation, massage, heat or cold applications, and others - all of which are drug free, noninvasive and promote natural wellness.

If your chiropractic examination reveals that lifestyle changes would benefit your condition, the appropriate information on posture, diet, nutrition, exercise, or other modifications will be provided to you. If that examination reveals that chiropractic is not the most appropriate form of treatment for your condition, a referral to the suitable health care provider will be made. However, if chiropractic treatment is appropriate, a second visit is scheduled.

Second Visit - Report of Findings: The doctor will schedule another appointment where they will go over all the results with the patient to explain in detail what has been found. The Chiropractor will also go over what is necessary for health and vitality to return -- and recommend a schedule of care. A Chiropractor may also make general health recommendations.

Following his/her go-ahead, the patient will then receive the first adjustment (after having had all explained and a chance to ask questions). After the initial adjustment, some people may have some tender spots, much like after starting an exercise program for a short period of time. However, most people experience no tenderness at all. Much depends on the condition and need for care. If there is some tenderness, this is short-lived and doesn't recur with all visits. The body is remarkable at healing itself and this begins at an accelerated pace after the first few adjustments.

General Considerations

At any time throughout the care process, patients can talk to their doctor about any health, diet, lifestyle or illness issues they may have.

A visit to a chiropractor is different than visiting the physician and is not rushed. No long waiting times, and very friendly, service-oriented visits are part of the overall Chiropractic experience.

Recent surveys have indicated that patients report 100% satisfaction with their visit to their Chiropractor's office.
